FWIW, I've seen similar behavior when ktelnetting from my Linux box in
KC to Red Hat-Athena 4.x and Solaris-Athena 8.x machines; if I type
whatever character the remote machine thinks of as intr (i.e. C-c most
of the time and C-g in emacs), the KC box almost always immediately
stops receiving packets associated with that connection. I never got
around to debugging the problem in more detail.
Note that the KC box has an oldish ktelnet client (taken from RH-A 4.0
or maybe even 3.0.3) and connects to the Internet unconventionally
but, I believe, correctly. (At any rate, intr only affects the one
connection; simultaneous connections to the same machine are
unaffected, and I can readily reconnect to the machine.)
