Hi. I was encouraged to send this to you by the IS guys who
gather at the Thirsty Ear on Friday evenings. They seem to
think it is a bug in the MIT system rather than my LINUX box.
Here is the problem:

[kirtley@yeltrik kirtley]$ attach matlab
attach: /afs/athena.mit.edu/software/matlab linked to /mit/matlab for filesystem matlab
[kirtley@yeltrik kirtley]$ /mit/matlab/linuxbin/matlab
attach: /afs/athena.mit.edu/software/matlab_v4.2 linked to /mit/matlab_v4.2 for filesystem matlab_v4.2
Unknown machine type @sys

This used to work. That is, I could run MATLAB on my system by ATTACHing
it and then running it from its linuxbin. I don't know when it stopped
working as I don't use it very frequently. I have made no substantive
changes in my LINUX box since this worked.

Any ideas?

Regards,
Jim Kirtley
