in host explorer, go to Options->Edit Session Profile->Terminal->VT
alt o, e, point and click, point and click
this allows you to adjust the terminal model and terminal ID (one is
what it pretends to be, the other is what it tells things it is).
I have both of mine set to vt220. set the value you want, then click
ok.
that will change the default.
