I could not reproduce this behavior. Have you tried logging in without
customizations?
This problem originally popped up in 8.0, due to some changes
including updates to the global cshrc file, and manifested itself for
people who don't source the global cshrc. Specifically,
XFILESEARCHPATH needs to be set. Do you have a custom cshrc?
