I don't think you're braindead, or at least, if you are, it doesn't
have anything to do with xwud. (Sorry, I had to say it. :-) ). I
have noticed the same behavior and have mucked around a little and
have not figured out how to do it. I didn't look at sources or try to
fix the problem, however.
