	Looking at this problem again, it looks like xterm is
not really the problem. I think what is happenning is that xterm
is spawning a process and will exit once that process finishes.
That process (probably a shell) is dying with a SIGSEGV so
xterm exits. That process is the one that does not get
the cached passwd entry.

	Having the xterms open when you log out probably matters
because it means that the utmp/wtmp entries will be in a different
state then they would have been if you exited without them open.
