What were you trying to do?
	Print

What's wrong:
Jammed printer with huge backlog in queue

What should have happened:
This seems to happen to me too often- I come in just to print a file and the printers have been offline for an hour or more, then I disobey the posted sign and unjam the printer, and subsequently wait 20 minutes for unwanted printouts (sometimes multiple copies) to be churned out in succession. Suggestions:

1) Realize there _are_ other people around mit who are adept at manipulating HPLJ4's and solving a simple paper jam. (Not to mention that just about anyone could _learn_ to do it given instructions and a little practice.) How about instead of posting "Thou shall not touch the printers" posting some simple steps at relieving a paper jam so that this doesn't happen?

2) There _is_ a queue running here somewhere. It _could_ be programmed to do something intelligent like punt all print jobs older than 20 min and znotify their owners in case they are still logged on. Face it, you are wasting hefty stacks of paper and toner for no particularly good reason.
