The obvious exception to this is "ping", which has traditionally been
in a different place on every platform.

There are less important exceptions like ifconfig ("ifconfig -a"),
rwall, mount (displaying the mounted filesystems), modinfo, swap
("swap -l"), and others.

I'm in favor of adding /sbin and /usr/sbin to the default path on
Solaris because there's some value in having it there and very little
value in not having it there.  However, this is a release team issue,
not a rel-eng issue.
