} Are you aware that rebooting the machine should be sufficient to release the
   } locked messages?

No I was not aware of that... but i'll try. :)

} Maybe it would be a service to teh community if you rebooted machines you
} found locked messages on instead of sending lots of mail.

I am not trying to provide a "service to the community." After all, my
going around and alerting users does not scale very well and a lot of
people would have to be doing it for there to be any general or
long-term effect. A better solution to the problem, if it is in fact a
problem, would be to either fix it or inform users more generally that
the problem exists and what is the suggested workaround.

However, as long as i am writing back, I was wondering if you or someone
could tell me whether or not what I seem to be observing is in fact an
actual bug? Or am I misunderstanding something? I can understand a few
backed up messages but what I am observing seems to be consistent.

If this is in fact a problem, it is particularly hard on users because
no error message or warning is ever sent back in regards to the unsent
mail. That's why i'm asking you.

Thanks,
