We're trying to use an athena 8.0I sparc5 machine as a nfs servers
and have run into a critical glitch that prevents it from working
as advertised.
First, in setting up the machine we did a "mkserv nfs ops" then
shared all the appropriate file systems.
However, on boot up we get this:
S15nfs.server: /usr/sbin/shareall: not found
as it turns out, shareall lives on /srvd:
ls -l /usr/sbin/shareall
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root other 23 Aug 21 09:27 /usr/sbin/shareall -> /srvd/usr/sbin/shareall
This being a server, shareall should probably not be living on /srvd
for autonomous operation. Furthermore, shareall isn't on
athena-sun4-srvd-80, so I wen't back and attached public-sunsys to
get things working. Should I be attaching something else to get
/srvd/usr/sbin/shareall? Shouldn't mkserv nfs copy everything it
needs locally to get running? "Mkserv ops" also prevents /srvd from
be attached on reboot and this also defeating getting to shareall.
Also another problem; On athena-sun4-srvd-80 /srvd/etc/inetd.conf
doesn't seem to exist and produces errors during mkerv.
This produces a 0 sized /etc/inetd.conf I assume this is not the
desired effect.
I can add whoever is interested to klogin on agora.
Thanks for any help and fixes,
Philip
