sparc4 openboot 2.26: tcx fb tests lose

On a SPARCstation 4 that identifies it's OpenBOOT PROM
as version 2.26:
STOP-A
setenv diag-switch? true
test /iommu/sbus/SUNW,tcx
results in your display doing some weird things while some tests
happen, and then the screen clears and the monitor power-saves, and
then nothing happens.
Typing commands at the monitor prompt don't work. Hitting STOP-A
yields a valid monitor prompt (as deduced by the behavior of the
"led-off" and "led-on" commands).
Note that the same behavior cam be seen with "test all". Further,
running the tcx test without the diag-switch true results in the
advisory that you need to enable the diag switch to run the tests.
I'm not 100% certain this is a bug, but it sure seems weird.
