Hi Seth!
Things have actually changed for the better in the past few years. Any
bugs (even for SIPB stuff) may be sent to <bugs@mit.edu>, and they will
be forwarded on with no flamage about "don't bother us with this." This
policy change went into effect in summer 1993. There wasn't publicity
about it because we encourage the general user community to go to OLC
first if they think they've found a bug.
Another useful thing that happened in I/S in '93 was the "Lockers
Vs. Packs" report, which spelled out specific info that should go in a
README.athena file at the top level of a locker. A few lockers,
infoagents among them, follow these guidelines. So if you want to
bypass <bugs@mit.edu>, look for a "BUGS" section in README.athena.
Suggestions can be sent to <suggest@mit.edu>. Or you can bypass that by
looking for a "MAINTAINER(S)" section in README.athena.
In summary, you just need to know two lists:
bugs@mit.edu
suggest@mit.edu
Of course, if you want to create a new list for every locker or software
package for which you might report bugs, nobody will stop you.
For more details about the bug tracking system, see ~netprob/doc,
especially scarab/. For the "Lockers Vs. Packs" report, see the lvsp
locker.
