That was probably because the user was trying to print out an Adobe
Acrobat document with ghostview. People can preview the documents with
ghostview, but the printing appears to spool the .pdf file to the
printer, and results in lots of garbage (at least on DECs, since I
haven't tried this out on an IBM or SGI).
