What were you trying to do?
logout while my .startup.X was still running
What's wrong:
After the new login screen came up, the background was still
xsetroot'ed to my background, and my xscreensaver started up.
What should have happened:
After I logged out, a script was supposed to kill all my processes.
Anything else:
The cleanup reported more errors than I usually see:
Several NFS fileservers were "not responding for filesystem <whatever>".
It couldn't find uid's for users rlentz and mdwong, who aren't logged
in, but are reported by finger.
There was also a line with just the word "hangup". This one I'd never
seen before.
Then there was "afs: failed to store file (13)"
