Hi,
I am George Nunn (Athena Consultant). I just logged into machine:
W20-575-58
running release 6.0R
The following appeared on the login window:
You have 3 messages (9522 bytes) on ATHENA-PO-1.MIT.EDU
Starting window manager: [1] 25948
[2] 25949
[3] 25950
[4] 25951
[5] 25952
[6] 25953
[7] 25954
[8] 25955
and an xclock window appeared as usual in the upper right corner. and then:
the screen went black and the "Hit any key to start" appeared.
I tried this 3 times every time same result. The last time I had logged in elsewhere in the mean time and on the other workstation I got a znol zephyrgram saying I had just logged out --- when the other workstation blanked out.
Presently (5minutes after I abandoned it) there is a user logged in and he had no trouble at all.
