Display type: PMAG-DV

What were you trying to do?
run emacs from the command line, specifying a file name.

What's wrong:
	emacs &
(runs without a problem, following all the instructions in
my .emacs file without a hitch.)
	BUT
	emacs filename
Opens a blank X window (says emacs in the titlebar) but there
are no contents to the window (i.e. no text, no status bar at the
bottom, nothing.) The color specifications in my .emacs file seem
to be obeyed (i.e. background and mouse colors) but there is no cursor.

	It works if I type:
	emacs -q filename
then:	M-x load-file .emacs

..so I don't think it is a problem with my .emacs file, but on the other
hand, if I delete/change the name of my .emacs file, it
will run from the command line as desired.

What should have happened:
It should have loaded my .emacs file and brought the file
I wanted to edit into the window.

Please describe any relevant documentation references:
After discussing the problem on the help instance, we came
to the conclusion that it is probably a bug with the new athena
release, since I haven't changed any of my files recently, and it
has been working just fine until today.
A copy of my .emacs file is in my Public directory:
		/mit/dbgordon/Public/.emacs
