No. Sun decided to do this (for security purposes - reading from
/dev/audio gets you the microphone, I understand, so having it world
readable is not necessarily ideal), and we didn't notice until
recently. Friendly release 7.7G was supposed to chmod /dev/audio, but
due to a bug in the update script, it didn't happen. It is fixed for
Staff release 7.7G, and should be fixed for Friendly release 7.7H
(whenever that happens).
