This is in reference to my previous bug report on dash's behavior with
respect to other windows.
I now find that the bug does not go away when I restart dash; it does,
however, go away whenever I restart dash and then start the logout
button from dash. Killing the logout button then does not invoke the
bug, but, as before, clicking in dash's menubar does.
Starting the alarm clock from within dash cures the bug even when I
subsequently click inside the window! =:?) Restarting dash, in this case,
then re-invokes the bug. Starting an analog clock does not help.
Clicking on the logout button fixes it permanently. I didn't have time
yet to try the other desk accessories.
Further experimentation shows that dash is behaving very inconsistently
and some of the above is not entirely true generally speaking.
If you need further information, I will have more time to do experiments
and make a more detailed description of what starts/stops the bug after
finals are over.
Where can I find out more about how dash and xlogin work? That is,
documentation, source code, info on what program starts these programs,
etc.?
Thanks,
