hostinfo under solaris failing to fibd MX records

I've noticed this before but not had a chance to check up on it:
Under solaris (dt, Sun IPX running 7.6R), hostinfo will sometimes fail
to find MX records that hostinfo on other platforms and even `host' on
the same machine:
; hostinfo sexware.com
No address for 'sexware.com'.
; hostinfo -mx sexware.com
No address for 'sexware.com'.
; host sexware.com
sexware.com mail is handled by uucp1.netcom.com
sexware.com mail is handled by uucp2.netcom.com
sexware.com mail is handled by uucp3.netcom.com
Don't even ask why I was trying to look that up; go read
athena.forsale if you're really interested.
