Before I got my hostname, I was experiencing similar problems with zephyr
What I narrowed it down to was that when DNS lookups fail, the zephyr
server you're connected to recognizes your existence, but it does not
propagate this information to the other zephyr servers. As a result,
znol will only list your location if it is talking to the same zephyr
server that the Linux zwgc registered with. The intersting thing is that
you will only recieve zephyrs (including instance zephyrs) if the
sender is connected to the same server. This can be seen through
using a combination of zctl new_server and zstat. Also, zwrite doesn't
work at all under these conditions.
