You are absolutely correct (in my opinion anyway) that autosaves should
be done elsewhere. Unfortunately, it is currently impossible to
redirect them, though we have submitted a feature request to the Frame
Technology Corp.
The more serious problem is that FrameMaker crashed and took your work
with it. We are aware of a problem in the interaction between Frame and
the AFS file system and are putting together a guideline document to
help people avoid the problem while we wait for the fix. However, we
are not aware of a quota problem leading to Frame actually crashing,
only that it sometimes loses data, and in general only on very large
documents. If you can repeatedly make Frame die, please let us know the
details so that we can look into the problem.
