Hi! We got an olc question from someone who was trying to use
reg_extra (from the register locker) on an rs/6000. He was able to
enter his ID number, username and password, and then it hung for a
long time, and then he got the message:
Can't open file /mit/sis/welcome.secure for reading.
Your MIT id must be a nine-digit number. Please try again.
I guess there are a bunch of different problems, including that moira
was unavailable at about the same time. But if reg_extra runs into
problems after it has already welcomed the person and prompted them
for and accepted their ID # and username I don't think it should then
give an error about the welcome file being unavailable.
I was unable to duplicate the problem on my machine. However, if I
enter something other than a 9-digit number for my ID number I am
warned about it right away, not after it asks for my username and
password.
Thanks,
Carla
