What's wrong:
During the login sequence while executing my .startup,X, the
screen blacked. (Messages of the form
[1] nnnnn
[2] nnnnn
[3] nnnnn
[4] nnnnn nnnnn
appeared as usual; "Session Initialization Completed" showed up after
the screen returned, with all windows appearing quite a
bit larger than usual.
What should have happened:
Windows should have appeared normal size. I have not changed
the relevant dotfiles in months and have never had such problem
before. (I have certainly logged in on a machine like this no more
than a week ago.)
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
My .startup.X is included below. Note the final hide_console; this may
be the problem. I will test, but want to get this report sent off
before risking hosing my machine.
