If you don't have a .zephyr.subs file, adding a sub in owl gives an
error message about the file not existing. You still get the sub added,
but the file doesn't get created, and so you lose the sub after you exit
owl.
Might it be better for owl to create .zephyr.subs if there isn't already
one?
