I read at: http://web.mit.edu/aui/notebook/athena-use.html
under "Misc. Interesting User Suggestions" of a better
replacement for zephyr. I thought if this is looked into,
an interesting possibility would be Jabber (www.jabber.org).
It is an open source chat client like AIM/ICQ, etc, and also
works WITH them. However, it is not completely centralized, and
one can setup a local Jabber for server. The idea was so
that corporations can have an Instant Messaging system within
their company, as well as external Instant Messaging all in one.
I think if there is a replacement for zephyr, that would be
the way to go. However, I am not sure HOW open source & free it
is, as the company appears to be selling something, but I think
it is only services.
I hope if you guys are serious about Gnome on Athena, you'll
look into this. Too bad Gnome won't be ready before I graduate
(unless it is really launched next year).

Henry Stanaland
