Sounds cool.
There may be simpler ways to adequately speed up quickstation logins,
though, e.g. by making the quickstations PCs. Which I think is in the
works. (Linux seems to have faster AFS and also has all the Athena
software local, which will include gnome when it's part of the actual
release.)
