Hi everybody -
At the end of April, we will be refocusing the debathena-workstation
meta-package to bring it more in line with the configuration of the
Debathena cluster machines, matching the traditional category of a
private Athena workstation.
This will include, among other features:
* Automatically installed updates
* A local caching nameserver
* Support for Hesiod cluster information
* Configuring NTP or Chrony to use the MIT time server
* The /tmp cleaner
* Redirection of some syslog entries to the Athena-wide syslog server
* The metapackage which includes the standard set of third-party
software installed locally on cluster machines (the
debathena-extra-software package)
The current debathena-workstation package is being renamed to
debathena-login-graphical. If you want to keep the current behavior, you
should uninstall the debathena-workstation package and be sure to mark
debathena-login-graphical as manually installed. The following should do
that:
aptitude install debathena-workstation- debathena-login-graphical+
If you want your workstation to take up the new behavior, no action is
required.
We will be changing the dependencies of debathena-workstation sometime
on or after April 30th, so be sure to adjust your package manager by
then if you want to retain the current behavior.
