The tmp-cleaner I wrote in July is just a repackaging of the Athena 9
tmp cleaner, which I wrote in 2006.
I believe it was recommended that I look at tmpreaper but didn't
evaluate it because of time pressure.
Preserving logged-in users' files is actually intended for dialup-type
machines. Screen state files, ssh xhost cookies, and other droppings
like that could get reaped which led to bug reports.
