jikes in the jikes locker works, so we can make do; too bad jikes-sun
is broken. It doesn't look like there's any practical way to get the
classes jikes needs in Intrepid.

I don't see any reason that gfortran can't substitute for g77 so this
should be OK. 

But if jikes-gij and g77 are no longer in Ubuntu, how could we re-include 
them in Jaunty?

This one is puzzling- I didn't include it in the debathena-thirdparty package
list, and running aptitude search '~Dlibctl-dev' doesn't turn up anything
depending on it, so I don't see how it got there; it should be puntable.
