I've written up a first pass at how we plan to address the crippled
mode requirements. You can read it at:
/mit/athena-backup/doc/draft/new-crippled.notes.
It's in two sections, first the specs of what will be provided and the
second a list against the respective requirements detailing how the
specs satisfy the requirements.
Some details of the specs are not specified due to work in progress or
my lack of direct knowledge.
