When we last visited our migration plan it was to keep machines that
could read the exabyte tapes around for 6 months. However, ops has
been doing backups exclusively on the DLT drives for a while now. If
we make the tape slaves Solaris machines as we would like, we need to
make sure we have an RS6K or a SunOS machine with an exabyte and DLT
drive to read these tapes (the current software won't work on
Solaris). This becomes slightly more complicated when we realize that
it is likely most RS6K's will go away this RFP. there probably isn't
a problem here, we just need to make sure we have everything we need.
