Admittedly, this isn't a perfect solution, but it's a good start.
As I explained to Rob earlier, it really isn't trivial to have the server
enforce the value of $fromhost, because to do it in a way that doesn't break
the "contract" of the existing interface requires a protocol change that
we haven't studied in detail, and it will require re-compiling the client
programs before they can use the new field to generate $fromhost's.
[this means we can't do anything until *after* 6.4, since code cut is
too close to be mucking with such a thing now.]
