Zephyr messages are directed to a user, not a specific instance of a user.
If a user is logged in several times, he will get messages at each machine
he is running zwgc on. Assuming the standard .login file, this means all
machines that are running X windows. If he is not running zwgc, there is
no way for him to get a zephyr message, regardless of how you specify the
recipient.

Take a look at /mit/zephyr/src/zwgc/zwgc.el. This includes a function "zsend",
an emacs interface to zwrite.

I'm not sure why this happens...I've always been able to iconify zephyr windows
under uwm.
Saving messages to files is a much-requested feature; it is implemented in
the new version of zwgc, coming this winter to a workstation near you.
