I know you don't want to put any effort into packaging it,
but perhaps you would install this README, which I wrote based on my
experience building zephyr.
README:
This is a snapshot of the MIT Athena Zephyr sources as of 8/31/92.
Unfortunately, the resources were not present to package it up
nicely; you may have to do some hacking to get the build environment
customized for your setup.
To build Zephyr:
Read J.T.Kohl's Administering Zephyr paper from the older Zephyr distribution.
Edit config/config.Imakefile for your site.
If you have imake (i.e., if you set OTHER_IMAKE in config.Imakefile):
type "imake -Iconfig" at top level.
Type "make world" at top level.
