The KMD 250 is intended for piston singles. The new MFD
offers most of the advantages of the KMD550 and 850 displays but
without the radar and terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS)
interfaces, systems the vast majority of singles don’t need.
(Those that do can always use the higher-end KMD display systems.)
The KMD 250 is slightly smaller than the 550 or the 850. With a
3.8” diagonal display, compared with the 5” screen of the
MD 550, the size difference is slight. The 250 measures 3”
high, compared to 4” for the 550. The software and remaining
capabilities on the KMD 250 are nearly identical to those on the KMD
550, so pilots familiar with one of Honeywell’s other MFDs will
have an easy time transitioning to the new hardware. Bendix/King

The Bendix/King KGP 560 Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System
(EGPWS) incorporates much of the same terrain database technology
found in our air transport EGPWS, while specifically protecting light
turbine and piston aircraft from the threat of Controlled Flight Into
Terrain (CFIT). Based on Honeywell's proven CFIT alerting algorithms,
our EGPWS provides advanced alerting while virtually eliminating
nuisance warnings.
Setting the Standard in Terrain Avoidance
Honeywell's GA-EGPWS systems provide enhanced situational awareness
and the most advanced protection available against CFIT. The KGP 560
uses derivatives of the algorithms currently in service with the air
transport fleet to virtually eliminate nuisance warnings. Each
GA-EGPWS accomplishes CFIT protection by combining an early
alert/warning capability with an optional terrain display, to enhance
safety as it improves situational awareness. Terrain information can
be presented on the KMD 550 or 850 Multi-Function Display, a weather
indicator or EFIS 40/50.
Key GA-EGPWS Features and Benefits
- Simple View
Terrain is represented by different colors, adjusting as your flight
path changes, making it easier for you to see what's ahead or below.
Two colors indicate unsafe terrain clearance: red, for terrain well
above your aircraft; and yellow, for terrain near or above aircraft
altitude.
- System Looks Ahead
The EGPWS system uses aircraft position, altitude and flight path
information to detect terrain or obstacle threats approximately one
minute ahead of the aircraft. A voice alert, "Caution Terrain,
Caution Terrain" or "Caution Obstacle, Caution Obstacle," repeats
every seven seconds if the flight path continues toward the threat
area. Thirty seconds before threat, the voice message will warn to
"Pull Up." Voice alerts cease when the aircraft is no longer
threatened. Other key benefits found only in our GA-EGPWS systems are
a built-in GPS receiver, which eliminates the need for an external
source, and sophisticated look-ahead algorithms derived from
Honeywell's extensive air transport experience

The EGPWS provides alerting and warning when the aircraft is

active for all phases of flight unless overridden by terrain

The Bendix/King KGP 560 Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) incorporates much of the same terrain database technology found in our air transport EGPWS, while specifically protecting light turbine and piston aircraft from the threat of Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT). Based on Honeywell's proven CFIT alerting algorithms, our EGPWS provides advanced alerting while virtually eliminating nuisance warnings.

<br>Setting the Standard in Terrain Avoidance
<br>
<br>Honeywell's GA-EGPWS systems provide enhanced situational awareness and the most advanced protection available against CFIT. The KGP 560 uses derivatives of the algorithms currently in service with the air transport fleet to virtually eliminate nuisance warnings. Each GA-EGPWS accomplishes CFIT protection by combining an early alert/warning capability with an optional terrain display, to enhance safety as it improves situational awareness. Terrain information can be presented on the KMD 550 or 850 Multi-Function Display, a weather indicator or EFIS 40/50.

<br>- Simple View
<br>Terrain is represented by different colors, adjusting as your flight path changes, making it easier for you to see what's ahead or below. Two colors indicate unsafe terrain clearance: red, for terrain well above your aircraft; and yellow, for terrain near or above aircraft altitude.
<br>
<br>- System Looks Ahead
<br>
<br>The EGPWS system uses aircraft position, altitude and flight path information to detect terrain or obstacle threats approximately one minute ahead of the aircraft. A voice alert, "Caution Terrain, Caution Terrain" or "Caution Obstacle, Caution Obstacle," repeats every seven seconds if the flight path continues toward the threat area. Thirty seconds before threat, the voice message will warn to "Pull Up." Voice alerts cease when the aircraft is no longer threatened. Other key benefits found only in our GA-EGPWS systems are a built-in GPS receiver, which eliminates the need for an external source, and sophisticated look-ahead algorithms derived from Honeywell's extensive air transport experience

<br>
<br>The EGPWS provides alerting and warning when the aircraft is descending toward terrain at a high rate for its relative altitude above terrain, giving you plenty of time to react. This mode is active for all phases of flight unless overridden by terrain look-ahead functionality.

<br>- Exclusive Peaks Mode
<br>
<br>Not found on any other systems, our "Peaks" mode provides additional terrain display features, giving you enhanced situational awareness at any altitude. This information is shown graphically, in a digital format, by varying the color and intensity of the screen display according to the elevations of the highest and lowest displayed terrain. <br>The all new Lightspeed Zulu ANR is lighter, quieter and has better acoustics than any headset Lightspeed has ever made. Its new styling reflects a new direction for the company. The low profile ear cups are made from magnesium and other lightweight materials, so that even with the ANR turned off the headset has better noise reduction than many other headsets with their ANR turned on.

<br>The new Lightspeed Zulu ANR headset is a fantastic combination of active and passive noise reduction and is the first headset that is Bluetooth compatible. Bluetooth provides wireless cell phone, and music interface with controls embedded in the battery box. The Headset must still be connected to the airplane for non-music/cell communications. With two independent auxiliary inputs, you can even wire to a music source while using Bluetooth for your cell phone providing music and cell phone service simultaneously! The circuitry gives priority to incoming radio calls, automatically muting the music source.

<br>Zulu is made from a combination of metal and highly durable composite plastics, with magnesium ear cups that are half the thickness of typical plastic cups yet provide a better barrier for attenuation. The ear cups also have heat sensitive foam seals covered in soft leather. The vented head pad is designed for even weight distribution and the thin, flexible formable spring steel band has significantly less side pressure than most headsets. The headset folds neatly away when not in use.
