At the beginning of this month, Truthout published an explosive first-person account of just how reckless the ultra-right is, and how meek its opponents are. "Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult [ http://www.truth-out.org/goodbye-all-reflections-gop-operative-who-left-cult/1314907779 ]," by Republican staffer Mike Lofgren, exploded across the Internet, quickly becoming Truthout's most-read story of the year. It helped shift the national debate by revealing the apocalyptic extent of the right-wing madness that currently dominates Washington, DC.
