I talked to Terry Arnett (Scopus consultant) and here's a quick summary
(see the tooltime meeting notes 4/23 for background info):
1. Terry is planning on arriving at MIT after lunch time on Monday April 29.
Regarding the first week of work:
2. He will write the Requirements and Functional Specification using
MSWORD. The Functional Requirements will contain screens, data
attribute definitions and describe the difference between our needs
and the base Scopus product. This difference between the tow is what
drives the amount of time to write the document.
3. He will use PowerBuilder to create screens for review (in reference to
the two day prototype). His preference is Microsoft Visual Basic, but he
was satisfied with PowerBuilder. PowerBuilder is already installed on four
Windows machines and two Macintosh's in the Building 16 lab.
4. I sent Terry a document on requirements combining both Help Desk and NIC-IT
needs.
5. MIT ACTION: We should capture the current screens in Filemaker and be
prepared to present this to Terry on Monday. This will facilitate the
information gathering for the Functional Specification.
It would good to have an "informal" kick-off meeting on Monday April 29.
This will allow you to meet Terry, ensure that we all have the same
objective, and it would be good for Terry to know who he will be talking to
over the course of the project.
To start things off, I would like to propose a meeting at
Monday 4/29
4-5 pm (later in the day will reduce the risk if he is late)
16-720 (for those who have not seen the lab, this will give
you a chance to check it out)
Please let me know if you CAN NOT make it. If this turns out to be a bad
time (and you still want to be at the meeting), let me know about the
following
alternative times:
Monday 3-4 pm
Monday 2-3 pm
Tuesday 9:30 - 10:00 pm
(and btw, Barbara said we could have some food thing for the meeting)
