I certainly can't remember the chain of events as carefully as Carol did in
her email about another duplicated log, but here's what happened to me
after Debi and I were speaking on the phone about a couple logs.
I had searched for "%filemaker%" in the Summary field, which showed me 5
logs. I was investigating 2 of them.
- Log 87419 contained a FileMaker question.
- Log 100319 contained a similar question that a client had v-mailed.
I phoned for the client of 100319 to see if they were the same question and
they were, so I entered some text in the history field. I noticed the Close
Log button was greyed out, but the Save button was not, so I pressed that
one. Afterward, the Close Log button became active so I pressed that one.
Then I went to the Find Log Records window and double-clicked the log 87419
to view & modify that one. I received a message that it was still locked by
Debi, although she had cleared the log. I clicked 'ok' and went back to the
Find Log Records window. I double-clicked log 100319 to bring that one up.
None of my text entry had been saved.
I entered some text, chose Close Log (which was active this time), and quit
from Scopus thinking the interface might behave better if I restarted it.
When I restarted and searched again for "%filemaker%" in the Summary field,
I was shown 6 results instead of 5. The 6th was the 100319 log with the
text I had entered the first time, but it was log #101158. I had never
chosen New Log and would have needed to enter the client info, history, etc
if it was accidental.
Very strange. Debi is now investigating log duplication this afternoon too.
