The Computing Help Desk is currently preparing to roll out the Scopus Help
Desk Application as Database of record for January 8, 1997. This will
directly affect three groups with Information Systems here at MIT. The
groups will be the Computing Help Desk, Departmental Computing and the
Transmissions Group in Telecomm. On the morning of January 8, 1997 the
current Filemaker Helpline Log will be available in read only mode for
reference.
There will be training sessions for each group during the week before the
roll out. Tentative dates for the training are: For DCS and Transmissions
January 6 or 7, 1997, for the Computing Help Desk Career Staff, January 3, 1997
with a secondary date of January 6, 1997, and for the Computing Help Desk
Student Staff, January 7, 1997. Rob Smyser is coordinating these efforts.
Prior to training and the release date, you are welcome to review and test
the application. The software and draft training guide can be found at
http://web.mit.edu/tooltime/www/scopus_release.html
There are also plans to make software available on the PC platform for users
of the system to change their passwords for the Scopus applications. Peter
Ragone will be sending mail with the details. Peter is also coordinating
needs around using a third-party query tool to generate reports.
There may be unforeseen circumstances which may affect the actual roll out
date. There will be confirmation mail the morning before the roll out.
If you have questions or concerns, please see a member of the tooltime team
or send mail to <tooltime@mit.edu>.
