-----
3. Status update - release 1.0b4, issues, machine status,
documentation, etc.
- Machine update:
- Most of the outstanding items are in Peter Kelley's area
Action items: Wade will send out notes on current status
- Reports Tools:
Wade has the latest version Brio Query (needs to be installed)
for review. This version would allow reports to be generated
on Oracle Help Desk data.
Decided that we would check on Crystal Reports before doing a
demo of Brio Query. If Scopus can call Crystal Reports (Lynne
believes this to be true), then this would be better than
Brio Query.
Action items: Lynne to check to see if Scopus can call Crystal
reports.
Waiting for feedback from Peter Lee on Data Probe
(action item from last week)
- Release 1.0b4 (Lynne):
- Lynne continues to work on 1.0b4 release, see the motd upon
logging into the Help Desk application for the most recent
changes. Recent work on discard messages.
- Please _TEST_ the changes in the motd and give feedback to either
Lynne or send mail to tooltime.
- Decided that Lynne would remove credit card information from
the Housecall section.
- Wade has concern on netinstall being tested. Lynne will consult
with Larry Egan and Stephanie Mondesire in order to increase the
amount of testing in this area.
- Lynne pointed out that we need to clear out the software category
field now that we are no longer using it.
- Some discussion on need for log history field in the Housecall
and other children forms. This should become clearer when
release 1.0 begins to be used.
- Action items: 1. Tooltime to test recent changes, 2. Lynne to
make housecall change - credit card, 3. Lynne to
facilitate netinstall testing, 4. Wade to remove
constraint on software category.
- Inform Team (Brett):
- Started to update Oracle with items required to implement Inform
Team. Need extra field in mit_logs file, wade to help.
- History field search (Brett):
- Decided to write Tcl code to capture ONLY the first 2k of characters
in log file for searching.
- Brett to write Tcl code and consult with Lynne. Wade to change
database to create new field mit_history_search.
- Next week, need to address how the consultant will invoke the
search. There are a number of options, including Data Probe.
2. Migration planning - Develop activities/schedule chart
Came up with the following list:
- Ensure deployment of software (SQL*Net, SNS, Scopus)
- Ensure accounts generated and process in place to update/generate
new accounts.
- Perform Filemaker migration (probably over a weekend)
- Ensure proper training materials available and some training has
taken place prior to deployment
- Deploy password changing program for Oracle (windows only, looks like
kpasswd)
- Prior to full cut-over, begin using release (1.0b4? 1.0b5?) with
closed logs for searching, log busting. This will help with the
items above (training, stability assurance, software deployment,
account setup).
- Resolve process issues such as who has system administration
access and the role of the system administrator.
This is a first draft of the migration breakdown. Please be ready at
a future meeting to discuss any updates to this list.
1. Contingency planning and options
- Delayed (ran out of time) until a further meeting
