Scopus Implementation
Date: July 3,1996
Working On Milestone:
- Beta phase continues with multiple releases, testing, and assessment
of work required to complete this phase.
- Release 1.0b3 testing to begin week of July 1.
- Initial beta phase completion goal (June 30) has slipped.
Now projected to be mid July for completion of a stable client of
base/core functionality.
Accomplishments:
- Completed release 1.0b3, including progress on data import issues
- Began testing 1.0b3
Goals:
- Assess feedback on release 1.0b3 (7/10)
- Meet with MIT Facilities Mgt on production machine 7/2 (delayed til 7/8)
- Meeting (7/10) on position of HelpDesk consultants and software listings
- Continue with documentation needs (training, developer's guide)
Issues:
- Outstanding Macintosh problems, waiting for Scopus reply
Notes (or today's random thoughts):
- Initial testing focused on a bug free application within the scope
of the functional specification. Later testing focused on usability.
Both types of testing were underestimated with regards to the original
timeline in the project plan.
- Since 1.0b2 release, development work is based on a task list. This is the
metric to be used to determine current work. Starting with the
week of July 8, principle development resources have been decreased via
a planned rotation to spend more time on Help Desk consulting. Thus,
planning needs to consider both the task list and resources.
- After the assessment of 1.0b3, we will know how many releases will be
required to complete the Beta phase. Before the Beta phase is complete,
we should start work on producing a schedule and plan for the rollout phase.
