Scopus Implementation Meeting June 13, 1996

Attending: Arnett, Endriga, Lane, Lee,
            Oh, Pakulat, Sousa, Wade, Willis

Agenda
1. Testing Results
2. Next steps

1. Testing Results

    - The team reviewed feedback from testing conducted on Wednesday
       June 12, 1996.

    - Testing notes found in the tooltime-bug discuss meeting were
used as a baseline for discussion and compared to the testing
       checklist.

    SUMMARY:

    - First, thanks for testing (looks like there was a lot of fun)
    - There were a minimum number of show-stoppers, see notes below
    - We are on schedule to continue with a new release 1.0b2 by
end of this week. Thus, the 1.0b2 testing can begin on Monday
       June 17.
    - Now that we have a base release, future releases will have
release notes and is the responsibility of the developers to
maintain a list (one line bullet items are fine).
    - Training for the new help desk testers (1.0b2 release) should be
conducted by members of the Scopus Implementation team. Who will
test and when will be resolved by the Help Desk team.

    DETAIL OF DISCUSSION

    - Some discussion on ability to save a log (record) after encountering
an error message. Team members should re-test after the discussion
to determine if issues still exist.

    - Mac testing: problem with losing information entered in the housecall
and netinstall screens are related to Mac only, this bug does not
exist on Windows or Unix. This will be evaluated for a 1.0b2 release.

    - Mac hint: Set the screen size in the preference to .75 for better
       display.

    - Mac fix: There appears to be a fix for the lack of the help screen
not scrolling on screens less than 17".

    - Date/time stamp hint: Use the F7 key to enter a date/time stamp in
a log. This is a design issue to be addressed later.

    - Discussion on which fields to be constrained. Decided that the
Help Desk team needs to meet and discuss. Initially, we will focus
on the Functional Specification and determine if the application meets
this document for constrained lookup fields. (NOTE: constrained means
that the user can not enter information not in a lookup table).

    - The mainframe, housecall and netinstall have separate status fields.
This change is related to a parent (main help screen) and child
relationship. The main log can not be closed out until the child
status (e.g. housecall) is closed out. This was not discussed during
the functional specification and need to be addressed as a design
       issue.

    - There is an issue of knowing that a record has really been saved.
Design issue for 1.0b2 release to be evaluated will be to determine
if the Save button can be disabled after the record has been saved.
If the user alters data on the screen (and does not issue a clear),
then the Save button will be enabled.

    - Decided to get rid of the Close button on the help screen window,
other options exist, e.g. File menu has close.

    - Design issue post 1.0b2 - examine default queue to eliminate
repeated task of entering the queue for each log.

    - Needs testing: Apple command keys.

    - Fixed for 1.0b2: Can type mixed case for Profile Find lookups.

    - Design issue: Can we obtain better error messages, currently
generic messages exist. Need Tcl code on the notify handler per
field. May have a performance hit, need to experiment.

    - Issue with task bar on Windows '95 taking wiping out the bottom of
the main help screen. Future design issue is to evaluate real estate
       on this screen.

    - Some fields are missing labels - will address.

    - Printing on the Mac will be addressed for 1.0b2.

    - MIT ID will be added to the MIT Log table (1.b2 release)

    - Some confusion on address and office location, need to check the
       Functional Specification for clarification.

    - Question on Mac application time-out: This is user controlled via
the preference, currently set to 10 minutes. The Windows and Unix
application appear not to let the user set this value.

    - Design issue: Evaluate formatting on the phone number

2. Next Steps:

    Action Items:
    - Peter, Wade and Lynne to meet at 2:00 6/13 to review FileMaker
       migration issues.
    - Release 1.0b2 to be completed by end of day Friday June 14.
    - Peter to send out storybook to be used as a baseline for the
       1.0b2 testing.
    - Help Desk team will discuss issues around training new testers.
    - Scopus Team to discuss constraints on pick/lookup lists.
