Scopus Implementation
Date: June 07,1996
Working On Milestone:
- Configuration and implementation is progressing, next milestone is
completion of first implementation on June 7. This has slipped two
days, completion currently scheduled for end of day June 11.
- Release 1.0b1 testing to begin and end on Wednesday June 12
Accomplishments:
- Continued development on Main Help screen. Tcl code written behind
the buttons, Main log screen does insert and update. - Completion for 6/11.
- Resolved issues with initial design, began work on solution. Training
was an option, but a technical solution had greater benefits.
- Scopus notified via email of software issues
- Meeting to review Scopus Help Desk implementation and NICIT needs
- Meeting to coordinate software categorization with Self Help and DPT
- Continued work on user and departmental warehouse data transfers
Goals:
- Complete functionality required to begin testing starting June 12
- Asses 1.0b1 testing and prioritize changes for 1.0b2 release
- Complete requisition for production machine
- Migrate a sub set of Filemaker Help Desk data
- Data Administration to help move Scopus data model to Silverrun
- Meet to review Scopus development tools and environment
Issues:
- Macintosh performance reduced from 10 minute startup to 4 minutes.
Issue is still open to determine if this is the expected behavior.
Scopus issue number: 18100. Issue number 18938 for Macintosh and
Metadata problem.
- Metadata version control not working as advertised. Initial problem
of metadata load resolved, need operating and installation
instructions since this was not properly supplied by Scopus.
- A number of other issues have been reported to Scopus. Working to
coordinate a list of all outstanding issue numbers.
Concerns:
- Data model may need refinement post release 1.0. Areas of exploration
include integration of account#'s, object codes and requisition approval
type data (found in Housecalls) with SAP. Software coordination with
self-help is another area to explore for data transfer.
- We have received inquiries on using Scopus for activities to support
additional providers, such as local experts and NICIT. What is the
process to set priority, assess cost, conduct skill transfers, expected
level of support from the Support Tools team?
