Dubai Petroleum Company (Oil & Gas Exploration / Production - Upstream
Business Unit) has Gone Live
On 02 Nov. 1997 with SAP R/3 3.0C (FI, CO, MM, PM, PA, PS) in 13 Months
(3 Months training, 8 months configuration / testing and 2 months in
quality assurance).

IT infrastructure:
Hardware: IBM RS/6000 J40s, F30 and J50
Operating System: AIX 4.1.5
SAP R/3 Kernel: 3.0D
Database: IBM DB2/6000 V2.1.2

Our main challenges were:
Data migration from mainframe to SAP R/3, managing multiple
nationalities with diversified cultures and SAP R/3 market fear of
'DB2/6000 with SAP R/3'.

Our Strengths during project:
High quality commitment by Company Management, Change Management Team,
Creative deployment of external resources, Committed support by IBM &
SAP, Hard work by team members, utilization of SAP GoingLive Services.

Cost effective, high performance and logical simplicity of DB2/6000 for
SAP R/3 with SAP GoingLive Services are few advantages we realized in
the project.

Organizations which are about to Go Live, I would suggest to use SAP
GoingLive Services, it may save very good amount of money and detect
some problems.
