I worked as a big six consultant for QM module on a project where we
succesfully implemented QM functionaltiy for procurement inspection and
final inspection from production.
In general SAPs QM functionality is useful in inbound, and includes lot
inspection with inspection plans and skip lot handling, vendor release,
vendor evaluation. SPC for inline inspection is mediocre and IMHO anyway
not useful to be implemented in SAP unless you have an special
requirement (you dont need the data in SAP and control charts are needed
directly on the shopfloor where no one wants to have a SAP terminal).
Outbound QM is very much depended on your specific needs.
Complaint and problem handling with quality notification is much nicer
if you implement WF as well.
Appraisal costa can be collected easily, failure costs with
notifications are ok, prevention costs are not specifically supported by
SAP.
Calibration of gauges is implemented with PM module and not really good.
Supposed to be improved with 4.0.
