Hi,

The File Transfer system which you use to download your files from the
Legacy system (for example, it could be NDM if you are using IBM-3090, IBM
ES/9000 mainframes or IBM AS/400), takes care of converting your file from
EBCDIC to ASCII. Usually for files that contain ONLY TEXT (including
numbers in displayable text format) we specify this option (ASCII & CRLF -
Carriage Return Line Feed option).

But if your file contains text and packed numbers, you cannot do the EBCDIC
to ASCII translation.

So, the best way would be to convert all your COMP-1, COMP-2, COMP-3 fields
in your Interface file to 'USAGE DISPLAY' format, and use 'ASCII CRLF'
option during FTP/NDM. Though this method might take some extra bytes in
the file, it will reduce lot of other related head aches.

Hope this info is helpful.
