SAP has recently announce that it will "stabilize" development of
reporting within R/3 and move the reporting function over to BW. BW
has delivered business content that will probably satisfy your
requirement, unless you have a highly customized R/3 implementation.
Save yourself some longterm heartache and plan for BW now.
