Help required on PM orders

Hi
I was responsible for implementing the PM module and we went live 1 April
97. The implementation seems to be a success but with there is a situation
with Worksorders that I cannot find a clean solution for!
Scenario:
A worksorders was created with either a wrong activity type rate
( $ 10 000 instead of a $ 100-00 per hour ) or too many hours were
confirmed by typing in eg 1000 hours instead of 1 hour in the actual
confirmation.
This order was Technically complete without checking (which shouldnt have
occured - I agree). Now this order carries a vast cost as well as number of
maintenance hours.
Because I cannot reverse the order to Released status I cannot reverse the
actual confirmation.
Result
The wrong cost have to be settled in order to clear the Worksorder.
It can be reversed in CO but the hours and maintenance cost will still be
reflected in the Equipment or Function Location history
Is there a cleaner way of rectifying the problem?
