MM Info Structure S032 not updated when master data changes

When updating the following fields in the "Material Master" , the
corresponding fields in S032 are not automatically updated.
These S032 fields are updated whenever a material movement is performed
agianst a given Plant/SLOC/Material.
DISPO MRP controller
MTART Material type
MATKL Material group
DISMM MRP type
GSBER Business area
I looked in Config and did not see an Info Structure update event that
would be triggered by an update of the "Material Master".
I contacted SAP for a possible solution, and they replied with
"Whenever you change master data you must rebuild
your statistics in order for LIS to capture the changes for past data".
I am trying to avoid a rebuild of S032 if possible.
Has anyone run into this problem ? How did you resolve it ?
