We're hoping to use the value category feature of the PS standard
cost reports. As we understand it the PS Information Database must
be regenerated each time value categories are established or
modified. However, everytime we've run the regeneration program, it
runs too long. Due to other test requirements, we are forced to kill
the program. We believe that the program runs too long because we
have too many WBS elements (800,000+). But, we don't really know
what the program is doing. In addition, we were told that the
delete indicator should be set on everytime we run this program.
However, when we do that, the standard reports are no longer
accessible. When we leave the delete indicator set off, small test
runs seem to work fine. Can anybody shed any light on what the
regeneration program is really doing and how we can monitor its
progress?
Thanks in advance.
